How we create our reviews

The review pulls together what we can verify about a product: what it is and its key specifications, build and materials as the manufacturer documents them, who it suits and who should skip it, how real owners rate it in aggregate, and honest limitations — the assessment you'd want before bringing a product into your home. It's built from the documented record around a product, not an invented anecdote of using it.

Drafts are AI-assisted and source-grounded. For every page we retrieve verified information — the product's Amazon listing data, the manufacturer's own product and spec pages, and reputable published coverage — and the writing is built from that, not from guesswork. Every factual claim has to trace back to a real, retrieved source, and each grounded review lists its sources at the bottom of the page. If we can't source something, we cut it rather than fill the gap with a plausible-sounding invention. Retailer pages tell us availability, never quality. We never cite prices in the review text — they change too fast to trust.

We deliberately don't assign our own star rating. We haven't run comparative tests, so a number out of five would imply a judgment we didn't earn. Where a product has a meaningful body of real owner ratings (for example on Amazon), we show that figure clearly labelled as the owners', never as ours. Our own contribution is qualitative: who it's for, when it's worth the money, and when to skip it. We try to be honest about weaknesses as well as strengths; if the manufacturer doesn't publish an ingredient list or a spec matters and is missing, we say so.

For relevant product types — heaters, detectors, appliances, furniture, children's items — we check the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's public recall database and say what we find, with the date we checked. If a brand has recalled products of the same type, we tell you rather than claiming an all-clear we can't verify at the model level.
