What It Is and Key Specs
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360 is a corded upright vacuum designed for whole-home cleaning. Its defining feature is the Lift-Away mechanism: the dust canister pod detaches from the upright body so users can carry it separately for cleaning stairs, furniture, and above-floor surfaces. According to SharkNinja's product listing, the vacuum also includes HEPA filtration for allergen control — a feature that matters to households with allergy or asthma sensitivities (
sharkninja.com).
The NV360 has been in production for well over a decade, which in the vacuum market typically signals a stable, well-understood product rather than a rushed release.
Build Quality and Safety
The Navigator line's longevity in the market points to a product that has held up under real-world scrutiny. TechGearLab notes that the NV360 "has been in production for over a decade" and "remains one of the most valuable vacuums today" (
techgearlab.com).
On the safety front: no CPSC recalls are on record for Shark products of this type as of 2026-07-24, per the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's SaferProducts.gov database.
iFixit's troubleshooting guides document common repair paths for the NV360 and related Navigator models — including hose wear and filter maintenance — which reflects the fact that replacement parts and community repair resources are available for this vacuum (
ifixit.com).
TechGearLab's hands-on testing found the NV360 sucked up
92% of test debris on conventional low-pile carpet, a strong result for a vacuum in this price category (
techgearlab.com). Vacuum Wars similarly characterizes the NV352 — a closely related Navigator model — as demonstrating "robust suction and versatile cleaning capabilities" (
vacuumwars.com).
Wirecutter has recommended the Navigator line since 2014, noting that it has been retested over the years against both budget competitors and significantly pricier models, consistently holding its ground (
nytimes.com/wirecutter). That duration of editorial endorsement is uncommon and meaningful context.
Real-World Fit: Who It Suits, Who Should Skip
The NV360 is well-matched for:
- Budget-conscious buyers who want above-floor cleaning versatility alongside standard upright vacuuming.
- Allergy-sensitive households, given the HEPA filtration.
- Multi-surface homes with a mix of low-pile carpet and hard floors, based on TechGearLab's debris pickup data.
Buyers who may want to look elsewhere:
- Those prioritizing maneuverability around tight spaces — TechGearLab's separate review of a sibling Navigator model noted easier swivel action on that variant compared to the Deluxe (techgearlab.com), suggesting the NV360 may feel less nimble.
- Users wanting a cordless experience — the NV360 is corded, which limits reach but typically supports consistent suction.
Honest Limitations
No vacuum is without trade-offs, and the Navigator line is no exception. IFixit's troubleshooting documentation flags
hose deterioration as a known suction-loss pathway on Navigator Lift-Away models — specifically, the short hose between the main vacuum body and the canister can degrade over time (
ifixit.com). Filter maintenance is also cited as a routine requirement to sustain suction performance. These are not unusual issues for a vacuum in this tier, but prospective buyers should factor ongoing maintenance into their expectations.
The NV360 is also a bulkier upright design — typical of this vacuum category — which may be a consideration for users with limited storage space.
Bottom Line
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360 has earned a durable editorial reputation across more than a decade of independent coverage. Its HEPA filtration, Lift-Away versatility, and documented debris pickup performance make it a credible choice for budget-minded buyers cleaning mixed-surface homes. Maintenance attentiveness — particularly around filters and hoses — is the main ongoing ask.
